An exploration and excavation of the affects of diaspora and dislocation, The New Village Festival is a collaboration of diverse performance artists addressing the impact that globalization/re-location has on their communities. The six featured performance artists: Molly Carney, Pierce McGarry, Katie Yurychuk, Quan Zhou, L i s a Gliederpuppe, and Cale W examine the benefits and costs of ‘The New Village” that globalization has created. The festival will take place on the eclectic and infamous Vancouver Wreck beach. By creating a forum in a natural public setting to analyze the stigmas surrounding immigration, the paradoxes of multiculturalism, nationalism, dominant culture, and the let-go/cling surrounding ethnic/cultural traditions in modern times The New Village Festival hopes to promote and encourage a shift in individual thinking towards world citizenship.

Quan has a background of video art but now she is a curios child stepping into the world of performance art.

Molly Carney led the tragic life as a lactose intolerant born and raised in America’s Dairyland. The cultural rejection associated with this forced Carney 2,059 miles Westward (3,314 km) to Vancouver, BC Canada where the cost of cheese is greater than its weight in gold. Carney is now receiving her BMA in Film, Video and Integrated Media at Emily Carr University.

Cale M. Werake is currently a 3rd year FVIM major at Emily Carr. His background is in Film, Video, Software Testing and Graphic Design. Before Emily Carr, he attended Bellevue College in Washington State, where I earned an Associates Degree in Digital Video Production. Upon completion of that degree program, he attended The Vancouver Film School, where he received a Diploma in Film Production. Cale currently have over six years of television and film production experience, and was nominated for Best Student Director at the 2004 Leo Awards for his student film 'Bushido.' From 2005 to 2008, he worked for Microsoft's Xbox 360 division under contract with VMC Game Labs as a Test engineer, and then Hardware Test Lead, for many game projects, including Halo 3, Gears of War, and Shadow Run. He currently works within the realm of photography, web design, and graphic design.

Katie Yurychuk is a Vancouver based artist studying at Emily Carr University. She works with a variety of different materials and mediums ranging from sculpture, to collage, to performance art. The focus of the majority of her work is deeply influenced by the principles and teachings of the Baha'i Faith. She is currently planing a "Collage Expedition" to Rwanda where she will be exploring cultural/geographical influence on an artist life through the medium of collage.
